CrashDiets latest release “Unattractive Revolution” from 2007 is with their debut “Rest in Sleaze”, 2 of the best Sleaze releases since the year 2000. Really impressive that they can carry on, just a few years after the sad passing of their original singer Dave Lepard, who took his own life.
This album opens with “In the Raw” and “Like a Sin”, 2 songs with loads of screaming guitars and sleazy vocals. Both songs are also released as singles. Third song on the album “Falling Rain” is the obvious hit. In 1988 it would have been an MTV favorite and #1 on various hitlists around the world. In 2007 it was enough to reach the top of the swedish single charts. Another ballad type, song “Alone” which “Mick Mars” of Motley Crue lent a helping hand to, is not a typical CrashDiet song, but a beautiful ballad. Mick Mars also helped with “I don't Care”. Songs like “XTC Overdrive” and “Die another Day” are also incredible songs that could easily be singles.
The only reason that I don't score them higher is that this cd contains 3 songs “Thrill Me – Buried Song – and Bound to be Enslaved” that don't live up to the standard of the rest of the cd. But all in all this is a must have for real sleaze fans since several of the songs are pure 10's.
